The hardest thing for me recently is to peel away from my novel-writing and to realize that I also have a life: work, play, eat, sleep. This week has been surreal for me; some days, inspiration just rushes through like a badly broken dam and some days, the trickle won’t satisfy me. But I’m willing to wait on it and keep writing back and forth, because this is what the journey is all about; it doesn’t end in one sitting. The great part is, I can re-think and re-do the things I have written until I have somehow, perfected a piece that will be ready for my first beta!
I have asked my lovely friends to join the journey with me, including Mei of akizora.org and the artist Emily Elliot. Sorry guys, I don’t have anything to pay you back, just the love, and the first snippets of this work, and the chance to criticize everything—it’s going to be fun! You all have the freedom to laugh and cuss and point out flaws so I can better it on the next go. Thank you very much for saying yes.
While I make my way through my first draft (I am earlier here than scheduled), I take this break to write my ever essential Week in Tweets. The reality is, I don’t think I was ever productive, money-making wise, but I realized better. I can’t put down my finance goals just because my manuscript takes most of my schedules. One word: Hustle.
Monday
Suddenly…
Woke up and my first words in the morning, sung with mad guitars, were “Speeding gas on the fire that’s burning this town.” Yep. Hi, Monday.

I think I was writing the core-conflict, life-turning part of the story by this time.
The previous chapters were just “Hello” chapters.
This is where the fun starts.— Caris Cruz (@hellocaris) February 15, 2016

Wednesday
I think it was high-sugar since I’m diabetic.
Survived my first vertigo attack last night, I still imagine my world is turning around

Thursday
THE FEELS.
I want to cry because for the first time ever, I’ve gotten some 65% through this story, which I never did many years before

Friday
And this is when I lost it.
It’s a downhill spiral towards the end.

Oh! And I did some quick illustrations! The story: I started doodling Ryota on Tuesday, because I already drew Taka and Toru. I did Tomoya on Wednesday. The format is different from my first doodles so I re-drew Toru and Taka, with the complete set falling on the 19th, aka OOR Live in Manila monthsary! It’s like a mini-fan present. I actually would like to turn them into coasters or something.
19th January, we were in a long queue for #ONEOKROCKLiveinManila & the whole show was EPIC. Thanks, @PULPLiveWorld! pic.twitter.com/vFznWHV9sh

Saturday
Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird died today. She started writing when she was 50+ and this book became a classic. A living proof that it’s never too late to pursue what you really want, and to be appreciated for it.
A salute to Harper Lee. Thank you for the words.

And here I am hoping I get to write something beautiful too.
