Let me describe the past week to you: on Monday, we woke up as early as 5 a.m., brushed our teeth, sipped some coffee, and headed out home to make our way into the election precinct. There’s something about this particular elections that was terrifying. It could be the projected winning candidates, or it could be the heat. We were among the first voters and the morning air was still fresh; luckily, we finished early and proudly walked out with our fingers indelible-inked.
Hi. Today is when we take our country back. Get out there. VOTE. And vote with raised standards. 🇵🇭— Caris (@hellocaris) May 13, 2019
What didn’t work out well, however, was our cable acting out WHICH caused my late viewing of Game of Thrones. I did not stop myself from reading spoilers, and by the time I watched the encore run, I already lost my excitement.
In summary: An episode of men doing stupid things— Caris (@hellocaris) May 13, 2019
Blandest GoT ending in the history of GoT endings on TV.
Oh, and the elections? Another sappy Game of Thrones-like show. This one, however, has a real effect on the economy. By afternoon, we knew we’re, how do I say it… fucked. But I’m not losing hope.

YOU are the only thing that's right in a country that's in the wrong. I am so proud we did this together even though the results are not in our favor.
Stand strong, Pilipinas 💖
To be honest, the real fault here is not plain stupidity. It's POVERTY. A hungry stomach and an unsteady future leads to gullibility. Poverty is the gap.— Caris (@hellocaris) May 13, 2019
By Tuesday, we’ve already accepted the doom that’s looming over us.

If you saw the news and felt angry, stay angry. Never forget. Let this be your fire, your springboard to a flight. Constantly choose better. Keep fighting for what is right.
Not only that. I’ve been struggling with many things due to an unpleasant correspondence and I felt like I was trapped. So, I did a thing:
Because I'm struggling with so many feels today, I'm putting up my very first short story on #Patreon for free.https://t.co/OLL4xyP7aU— Caris (@hellocaris) May 14, 2019
I'm super new here, and I'm just discovering my way around, so please bear with me 🖤
If there’s one nice thing that happened at the beginning of the week, it’s my brother gifting my mom Sans Rival (we weren’t able to buy one on Mother’s Day, all cakes ran out). In this house, it seems that everyone understood that I’d be chomping anything in a box in the fridge…
Conti's Sans Rival is layers of chewy meringue sandwiching a slather of lemony custard then sprinkled with a generous heaping of nuts all around. Mama always asked for Goldilocks' (a.k.a. the more accessible variety) but she says, "This one, in fairness, tastes fine."— Caris (@hellocaris) May 15, 2019
Who loves Melona? I know I do. Enough for me to doodle this because Melona is Magical.

I know, I know. By the time you’re here, you’re probably thinking, “What did I just read? WHERE IS THE SUBSTANCE?” The substance is not here, dear one. This is my brain-fart (for lack of better wording; sorry for not having TW). This is also my blog, and I love writing about random things because work, in the past few days, was deeply, tryingly serious.
Do I get a badge? I survived! I’m writing on a flaming hot keyboard and the weather feels like the Philippines is on fever. I had a lot of introspection (and fun late-night writing), and to be honest, the place I want to be? It’s still far off. But I’m moving. I’m moving forward.
