Welcome home! It’s been a while, so please take your shoes off and find your slippers. Get cozy. This won’t be long. I don’t have all time in the world, but I’ll make time for little things. For this person, little things matter.
It’s October! On Tuesday, I made a pact not to eat the cheep chocolate sweets I’ve stocked on for two weeks, with a promise to be healthier and choose better food. Dang. Wasn’t easy. By the fourth day, I’ve been gaping at the cookies left in the ref, silently convincing myself, it’s nearly weekend. Those would be wasted. Why not start anew next week?
And then, hello conscience. 2 weeks. It’s just 2 weeks. You couldn’t fulfill your own promise and you’re thinking of heaven’s eternity? Nope. Eat that, and you fail.
In short, 6 days in, and no sweets. Unless I sleep-walk tonight, open those packets and wolf down those Choco-mallows.
Please check in with me eight days after, and let’s see if this has been successful.
This week has been a complete blessing to me, with an entire day of going back and forth my laptop in attempting to write a chapter and not writing it. Until there came a push. A different flow. The end parts of this WIP sounded sharp but guess what: I’ve managed to cut down 500 words out. 500 words matter. Or else it’ll recklessly ramp up to 90k again.
Today! Little! Dirty paws! Got his anti-rabies shot! And boy, it was not easy. But if there’s something I was able to prove today, it’s that Chiba loved us more than we love him.
There was no struggle. No scratch.
I’ve learned a few things about my dog recently. That he’d slip into the backdoor so he could hang out outside my room, where he could probably hear me humming or whining, “Why am I not getting this right?” He’d bark, scratch, let me know he’s there. And when I’m back in the living room, he’d knock on the door so he could join me in my solitary viewing of overly-replayed movies which I still enjoy.
Animals are amazing. Sometimes, I think they love us too much. I hope you love all your pets, whatever their fur is.
- Some weird things: strange. dreams. I’ve just had two and none of them made me happy.
- Things I’m recently obsessing about: Mid-waist pants, loose shirts, lanzones, Never the Strangers’ Sabay, Moumoon, Toru’s weirdly-becoming long hair
- Keeping my eyes out for: Magazine subs for horror short stories, trips to Divisoria and possibly a new iPod because my 8-year-old is going to give up soon
I’m sorry, I have no grand things to share to you. The nice things are best kept in secret. And I don’t want anyone to jinx it. x
